On a rainy afternoon, we visited the Tennessee Valley Railroad and Museum in Chattanooga, TN. You can catch a train at the very nice depot and train station, which takes you on a 3 mile trip through tunnels and over bridges until you reach the terminus of the line where there is a turntable and working repair shop. You then get to watch the train that pulled you in gets rotated, while a second train couples to you on the other side for the return trip.

The 1968 GM Electro-Motive Division GP38-Type 2879 is the train that took us to the terminus. You can see the turntable behind it.
Also in the yard was a 1950 GM Electro-Motive Division GP-7 diesel electric #710 (sorry for the rain on the window).
Unfortunately, this is the only opportunity we had to see
the 4501, a 1911 Baldwin 2-8-2 "Mikado" (#37085).

However, firing up and getting ready to take us
on the return trip was the 630, a 1904 ALCO 2-8-0.

I caught it "popping off" as we approached the roundtable.

There were two trains being refurbished in their backshop area: a 1953 GM E8-Type 6914 (left) and a 1962 GM GP30-Type 2594 (right).
After the return trip back to the station, I was able to get some better pics of the 630.

Other trains of note that were on display in the yard at the front of the museum:
And last but not least, the Central of Georgia #349, an 1891 Baldwin 4-4-0 (#11994):
We had seen another Central of Georgia locomotive at the Georgia State Railroad Museum in Savannah. I was even wearing the t-shirt!
