This little train used to shuttle tourists and equipment from nearby towns to the Mammoth Cave National Park. It is an 1888 Baldwin 0-4-2T (#9442). It is called a "dummy" style train, which means it has panels surrounding the locomotive to make it resemble a streetcar, thus not scaring any nearby horses. No really, I had to look that up.

Taken from a nearby plaque, this depiction shows what the train looks like beneath the panels. |
